Entry #11: Fill My Little World

I've just watched The Brit Awards 2007 and voted Fill My Little World by The Feeling as Best British Single of 2006. I love this song, I've listened to it so many times, it's one of my favourite songs from last year. Take That won the award, natch.

I didn't need my diary to remind me what occassion today is. Various television commercials and print advertisements have promoted their Valentine's Day products focusing on the prospect of forgetting that your supposed to get your loved one a card and if inclined succomb to the commercialism. Do people really forget what day it is? I would have known without the media warning, but are there really people out there who would be oblivious?

That's neither here nor there for me though, because I don't have a partner nor know any potential person for stupid cupid to lovingly stab with his arrow. Speaking of which, the guy I met the other weekend sent me a text on Monday, with apologies. He said he's not ready for anything at the moment and blamed the delay in his contact on being ill.

Someone I did hear from in a timely manner was Jane, the woman I met amidst the severe weather chaos, who I'd offered my number to and left to contact me. We might meet up for drinks at some point. Meet up for drinks, something us Mancunians are well practised at. In another newspaper article about binge drinking in Manchester, Manchester Metro News reports that “30% of men and 16% of women [in Manchester] drink more than the recommended weekly limits.”

I was going to have a bottle of wine tonight but instead I'm going to drink herbal tea and watch The Abbey, a one-off comedy satiring celebrity drink and drug rehabilitation and starring Russell Brand who himself recovered from drug problems. A lot of people I know don't like him, but I do; He has an alert, astute and dirty mind — qualities I like! With Russell taking over the helm of The Brit Awards, it's clear there are others appreciating Russell's personality and presenting style. I'm off to put the kettle on. I'm determined to be asleep by midnight as I need to catch up on sleep lost over the past few nights.
