Early in January Mark invited me out for a night of dancing to cheesy music at the end of the month, but I declined on account of probably having insufficient funds. When Gina and her friend Dani discussed going out this weekend when I met up with them last one it occured to me I should have enough to join them, and Mark was still up for going out.
Although I've not been feeling social for a while I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to test the water of how I would find getting out and about socialising. As Saturday approached I looked more forward to it. Mark ended up cancelling on the day, which put me in a bit of a mood but I still went out.
I met Gina and Dani in Grand Central, we warmed up in Via where we were joined by my another of my friends Sarah. And then we went to Poptastic at Club Alter Ego. At one point I went to Poptastic every week but this was my first time in almost two years, and since then Club Alter Ego has had a refit and changed its name from the previous Mutz Nutz.
The club looks more upmarket, and I should expect so considering the amount of money invested in its refit. I had a very enjoyable night dancing to loads of classic tunes. Considering I've not been bothered about sex I ended up pulling and did the deed. I seemed to be on a level with this guy I met, through discussing our musical tastes and our emotional viewpoints on stuff.
He didn't seem to be the type of guy to fob me off, he referred to seeing me again. I sent him a text on Monday but I have not received a reply, so I guess that means he wasn't as he seemed and it was just a one night stand. It was a very fun night, spontaneous fun, and falling asleep in someone's arms was nice. Although before I went to sleep I should have drunk more water to reduce the hangover I felt on Sunday.
I would have loved to crawl into my bed when I got home on Sunday afternoon, but it was Philippa's birthday and there were arrangements. Pip, Hannah, Steve, Mark and I had a filling Mexican meal at the new Chiquito in Altrincham and moved on to The Faulkners Arms. Sunday is karaoke night, I don't sing—can't sing—but sang mine and Hannah's classic Private Emotion by Ricky Martin and Meja, then Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much with Pip and lastly with Hannah Muse's cover of Nancy Sinatra's Feelin' Good.
Mark was the designated driver and dropped me home, I didn't get to sleep til after 3am and unsurprisingly felt extremely rough at work on Monday. I feel like I've put on a stone in weight after the weekend's alcohol consumption, but what the heck it was fun in the end.
