syndication feeds

A feed is a structured file listing recent activity, in this case the content of the latest blog entries. You don't have to keep checking back at the site to see if an entry has been posted, because technology can do that for you.

You subscribe to a feed by adding its location to either a program on your computer or a service available on the Internet. These programs are called feed readers or news aggregators, which can be standalone or integrated into a Web browser. An example of an aggregation service is Google Reader.

Here are the locations of this site's feeds, just copy and paste the address into whatever program or service you choose. Or if you're using a browser that supports autodiscovery of feeds an icon should currently be showing to indicate this site has feeds. For example my version of Opera is displaying an icon in the address bar.
